Audio, melody, or sheet music could not be recognized

Check reference preparation and improve source material when a melody or score cannot be read.

Uploading a file and reading its musical content are separate steps. A completed upload does not necessarily mean its melody is ready to use.

Check the reference status

  1. Look at the reference card and Library entry for progress or an error.
  2. If it is still processing, wait rather than repeatedly submitting the same input.
  3. If it failed, note the error and check the original file on your device.
  4. Try a clearer or simpler source if the file plays or opens correctly but cannot be interpreted.

For audio and humming

Use a recording with an audible melody. Reduce background noise and overlapping sounds, and try a shorter, clearer excerpt. Being able to play an audio file does not guarantee that every note can be recognized.

For sheet music and MIDI

Use Sheet music for MusicXML or MIDI. Open the source in notation software or a MIDI player first. If import fails, export a fresh copy or try a simpler passage; renaming an extension does not convert the file. Inspect the imported melody, chords, rhythm and structure.

Check the model

Melody and score references use ACE Music v1.1 Preview. ACE-Step does not read these references. Check the selected model and cost after adding a reference.

If the upload itself is failing, see upload troubleshooting. If reading repeatedly fails, contact support with the file type, approximate duration or page count, workflow, and error message. Share only material you have permission to provide.

Find your UID before contacting support

  1. Sign in to ACE Music and open Create.
  2. On a computer, open the account menu from the account area at the bottom of the left sidebar, then choose Account. If the sidebar is expanded, use the ⋯ button. On a phone, tap your avatar at the top of the page, then choose Account.
  3. Find the UID row and select Copy. If copying is blocked, select the UID text and copy it manually.
  4. Include this UID in your support message, along with the details below.

You can also open the Account page directly while signed in. Your UID identifies your account; it is different from a song ID or an order number. If you cannot sign in or open Account, contact support using your registered email address and say that your UID is unavailable. Do not delay reporting the problem just because you cannot retrieve it.

Supported sheet-music input formats

Sheet music accepts .musicxml, .xml, .mxl, .mid and .midi files. PDF files and scanned scores cannot be imported directly. Export MusicXML or MIDI from your notation software before uploading. You can still export a generated score as a PDF.
