Create and edit

Extend or revise a melody with AI

Ask the melody writer to develop an existing score.

Use Compose with AI to write a melody, develop an opening, or revise an existing musical reference. The result is editable musical notation, not a replacement audio track.

Open the melody workspace

To revise a reference, open Edit melody on its card in Custom. To start a new sketch, open Custom → Songwriting Assistant and continue to the melody workspace. You can start with notes or ask AI to write from an empty sketch.

Ask for a change

  1. Open the sparkle control labeled Compose with AI.
  2. Choose a suggested request or enter your own. Say what should change and what should stay.
  3. Send the request and wait for the notes to update.
  4. Listen to the result. If you do not want the change, use Undo or the undo shortcut shown in the editor.

Keep the opening melody and develop it into a verse and chorus with a contrasting bridge.

Review and use the result

In the main melody workspace, the AI edit is applied directly. A completion message indicates that you can undo it; there is no separate Keep confirmation. To try another direction, undo if needed and send another request.

When editing an attached reference, choose Done to return the edited melody to Custom. When composing a new sketch inline in the Songwriting Assistant, Generate uses its current melody without a separate Apply step. Review Lyrics and Style before generating the full song.

1. Keep preserves your edits; Discard removes them. 2. Cancel returns to the editor without closing it.

If a separate editor opens

When the Songwriting Assistant is already open, a reference may open in a separate editor. That editor requires notes before composing and offers Keep, Try another, and Undo for the proposed change, followed by Apply. Follow the controls in the editor you are using.

Changes to the score do not rewrite the audio of a completed song. See Credits usage before generating a new result.

Check the selected model

Melody and score references use ACE Music v1.1 Preview. Create can switch to this model when you add a reference that requires it; check the model name and generation cost before you generate. ACE-Step does not read these melody or score references.

Arrange sections and repeat chords

You can rename, copy, delete or change the length of a section. Chord groups can span 2, 4 or 8 bars. After changing the arrangement, listen at the section boundaries to check the transitions.

Tell the AI whether you want to repeat only the chords or develop the melody too. Repeating chords leaves the existing melody notes unchanged; it does not automatically write more melody. To extend the tune, ask for a continuation explicitly and review the new notes.
