Credits usage
Understand generation costs, credit refreshes, and how credits differ from download permissions.
This guide explains which operations use Credits and how those costs are calculated. Check your balance and the cost shown before confirming an operation.
Which operations use Credits?
| Operation | Credit cost | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Generate with ACE Music v1 | 4 Credits per request | A request normally produces two song versions. |
| Generate with ACE Music v1.1 Preview | 4 Credits per request | Includes creation using melody or score references, and Cover or Mashup when this model is used. |
| Generate with ACE-Step (including Cover and Edit) | 0 base Credits | Uploaded video inputs still incur the video surcharge below. |
| Generate using uploaded videos | Base generation cost + 1 Credit per minute of video | Applies to every model, including ACE-Step. Add the durations of all uploaded videos in the request, then round up to the next whole minute. |
| First audio-to-score transcription of an ACE-Step song | 1 Credit per song | Reopening or exporting an already completed transcription does not charge again. |
| View or export a score for a song generated with another model | No additional Credits | No separate transcription charge. |
| Split into Vocal and Instrumental | 5 Credits per song | Requires a paid plan. |
| Split into All Detected Stems | 60 Credits per song | Requires a paid plan. |
How video costs are calculated
Uploading a video does not itself use Credits. When you generate a song using that video, the video surcharge is added to the base generation cost, regardless of the selected model. The surcharge is charged again for each new generation request using the video.
For example, a request using 90 seconds of uploaded video has a 2-Credit video surcharge. The total is 2 Credits with ACE-Step (0 + 2), or 6 Credits with ACE Music v1 or ACE Music v1.1 Preview (4 + 2). Multiple videos are rounded up after their durations are added together, not separately.
Operations without a separate Credit charge
Uploading files, recording audio, playing the keyboard, manually editing notes or chords, using the lyrics, style or songwriting assistants, and generating cover images do not directly deduct Credits. Playing, sharing or renaming songs also has no separate Credit charge. Usage limits may still apply.
Downloading a file has no separate download fee in Credits. However, requesting a score export can first trigger the 1-Credit transcription of an ACE-Step song if no completed transcription is available. Download access also depends on your plan.
Repeated requests and failed tasks
- Each new song-generation request is charged separately. Check the selected model before submitting: adding a melody or score reference can switch Create to ACE Music v1.1 Preview.
- A completed transcription can be reused without another transcription charge.
- For stem separation, reopening an existing result or a running task for the same song and split type does not start another paid split. Vocal and Instrumental and All Detected Stems are separate operations; using both costs 65 Credits in total.
- If a generated song fails, its share of the generation charge is returned automatically. For example, if a 4-Credit request produces two song tasks and one fails, 2 Credits are returned.
- Failed transcription and stem-separation tasks return their charged Credits automatically. Disliking a result is not the same as a failed task.
- Closing or refreshing the page does not cancel a running task or return its Credits.
If a deduction appears incorrect, contact support@acemusic.ai with your UID, the song or task ID, and the approximate time. Find your UID in Account and use Copy next to the UID.
First-time setup has its own creation flow. The ACE-Step model picker is available in the Create workspace after setup.
When Credits refresh
The Free plan's included Credits reset daily to the plan allowance. Unused daily Credits do not accumulate or carry over. Paid subscriptions' included monthly Credits reset on the first day of each calendar month in Pacific Time, including daylight-saving changes. Unused monthly Credits do not carry over. This monthly schedule also applies to annual subscriptions and is separate from the payment date.
See Pricing for current allowances. Credit top-up packs are not currently available.
What happens to Credits when you downgrade?
If you switch to a plan with fewer monthly Credits, the extra Credits granted by your previous plan for the current month will be taken back. Review the confirmation before switching. Changing only the billing cycle without changing the plan does not reduce the monthly Credit allowance. Any billing credit from proration is separate from music-generation Credits and goes toward future payments.
Credits are not download or commercial permissions
Credits cover the operations listed above. Paid features and downloads also require the appropriate plan; ACE-Step MP3 downloads are free. Commercial-use rights depend on the model and your plan when the song was generated. See Terms of Service.
