Enter and adjust melody notes
Add notes in the piano roll, listen to your melody, and use it to generate a song.
Use the piano roll to write or adjust a melody before generating a song.
Open the melody workspace
In Custom, open the Songwriting Assistant to start a new melody. To change an existing reference, choose Edit melody on its card after recognition finishes.
Enter and adjust notes
- Select the track you want to edit and move to the relevant part of the timeline.
- Use note input to add notes at the pitch and position you want. On a computer, you can double-click the grid; on a phone, use the note-input controls.
- Move notes to adjust pitch or timing, and drag their edges to change their length.
- Play the melody and use Undo if you want to reverse a change.
Use the melody in a song
When editing a reference, choose Done to return to Custom. An inline sketch in the Songwriting Assistant is used directly when you generate. Review the lyrics, style and selected model first. Melody and score references use ACE Music v1.1 Preview.
Editing notes changes the musical reference, not the audio of a finished song. For a fuller editing guide, see piano-roll editing. To view or download a finished song’s score, see score viewing and export.
