AI Mashup: Finding a New Song Between Two References

A mashup maker can mean a manual blend of recordings or a newly generated song informed by several sources. ACE Music's Mashup workflow is the second kind: it uses multiple song references to guide a new result. Decide which quality each source contributes before you ask them to work together.

A mashup maker can mean a manual blend of recordings or a newly generated song informed by several sources. ACE Music's Mashup workflow is the second kind: it uses multiple song references to guide a new result. Decide which quality each source contributes before you ask them to work together.

Start with a song in ACE Music

We generated two original English references, then added both from Library under Custom → Audio → Mashup in ACE Music v1.1 Preview. We kept the current original lyrics and requested an intimate verse with a more open rhythmic chorus. The two new outputs are 1:47 and 1:37; they are newly generated songs, not an exact splice or a verified equal blend of the references. Compare both sources and results below.

[Verse]
You bring the sunrise, I bring the rain
We find a rhythm in the windowpane
[Chorus]
Meet in the middle, leave a little room
Two different colors in a single tune

English indie pop, warm clear solo vocal with guitar and electronic percussion, a memorable short chorus and a steady midtempo pulse. Create an original reference that could later be combined with a different generated version in a mashup experiment.

Give each reference a role

Choose sources you own or are authorized to use. Rather than saying “mix these,” identify what you want from each: a relaxed rhythmic feel from one and a spacious harmonic atmosphere from the other.

An original exercise could pair your own dry guitar demo with a separate electronic sketch. The goal might be to retain the guitar demo's intimacy while introducing the second sketch's more open chorus energy.

Create the Mashup in ACE Music

Select ACE Music v1.1 Preview to combine multiple song references. In Idea, choose Make a mashup, or add audio in Custom and select Mashup.

Add the references and wait until they are ready. Review the active inputs before generation, including the lyric choice. ACE-Step's single-source Remix route is a different workflow, not a replacement for Mashup.

An original direction might be:

Develop a new song using the first reference's intimate acoustic character and the second reference's more open rhythmic chorus. Keep the transition coherent, with a clear lead vocal and space around the main hook. Use the references as musical influences rather than trying to splice their recordings end to end.

Create a new English indie-pop song drawing on both attached references. Use the first reference for an intimate verse character and the second for an open rhythmic chorus. Keep the supplied original lyrics, clear solo singing and a coherent transition. Reinterpret the references rather than joining their recordings end to end.

Decide whose words the new song should use

Review the Lyrics field in Custom. If you want an original lyric rather than words drawn from the references, select the relevant own-lyrics option and supply the approved text.

A simple original hook for the example could be:

Let the small room open wide
Keep the quiet on the inside

Treat it as a writing sketch and adapt it to the actual story. Combining references does not remove the need for a coherent lyric.

Evaluate the new song on its own terms

Listen for whether the musical traits feel integrated or compete for attention. A result may borrow one reference more strongly than the other. Describe the specific imbalance when refining the next brief.

An AI mashup generator does not necessarily reproduce chosen sections in a fixed order. If you need the exact first verse from one recording followed by the exact chorus from another, use an authorized timeline-editing workflow instead.

Keep the project traceable

Save the source names and the brief for each version so you know what changed. This helps when a later take is more convincing but you need to identify which input or lyrical decision produced the direction.

Start a reference-led song mashup in ACE Music by choosing complementary musical roles, then judge the new work as a song rather than a checklist of borrowed features.
